COP22:Low Carbon Transport, vital to the Global Climate Action Agenda

Marrakech, 12 November 2016 - Sustainable transport leaders met today in the Atlantic Room of the Blue Zone at the COP22 site to address the Global Climate Action Agenda (GCAA) on Transport.



The objective of the meeting was to highlight the progress been made on fifteen core initiatives. The Agenda covers all modes of transport, air, road and sea. 

The Transport Day addressed the following: the need for action, GCAA transport initiatives, examples of scaled up implementation since COP21, electric and ultra low emissions,  mobility, adaption, and 2017 and beyond. Initiatives that were discussed included: the "Global Fuel Economy Initiative", "Carbon Accreditation Scheme", and the "The MobiliseYourCity Initiative".

The event was attended by HSH Albert II of Monaco, who was in attendance at COP22 today to offer his support to the UNFCCC.  Other contributions came from Dr. Hakima El Haite, Special Envoy and Climate Champion for Morocco and Nadia Larika, CEO Moroccan Ports Authority.
